Scoring on this tipping site is a little different from most tipping competitions just to make things a little more interesting...

Each correct tip is awarded 10 points, 20 points for correctly tipping a finals game.

In addition you can 'gamble' a little by picking a margin. If you specify a margin (i.e. specific a margin that is not 0) then you can gain extra points or run the risk of losing points.

Bonus Points
Accuracy of Margin Points Gained/Lost
Exact Margin 3 point Bonus
Less than 5% 2 point Bonus
Less than 10% 1 point Bonus
Less than 30% No Bonus
Less than 50% 1 point Penalty
Greater/Equal to 50% 2 point Penalty

% refers to a percentage of the sum of the final scores by the 2 teams invovled. For example, a game of 2 teams scoring 50 and 70 with margin pick of 14 will score a 1 point bonus (50 + 70 = 120, margin is 20 points, error is pick is 6 points, 6/120 = 5%)

Bonus points will be mutiplied by 2 for finals rounds.

These cutoffs have been worked out by observing a thosand tips and benifiting the top 25% of tippers with +1, the top 10% with +2 and likewise in the opposite direction.

What if I forget to make a pick?

You'll automatically get allocated the least popular pick for scoring purposes. This also applies to all rounds completed already if you join the game late. If your team wins, then you will score 8 points for that game, 16 points in finals. Also, if the tipping is 50/50 split the default pick is a draw! NASTY!

What the heck is the Sliding Scale?

This is a scoring ladder based on only the last 4 weeks of tips. This means you have a change of beating the annoying guy at the top in some way. Default picks do not apply to the 4 week Ladder.
